À peine plus de six mois après la première annonce du partenariat exclusif entre le prestigieux atelier et la marque de montres de luxe par les deux amis d'enfance que sont Marcello Binda (Président du groupe Binda, la maison mère de Wyler Genève) et Andrea Zagato (Président de la société éponyme), les deux entreprises sont fières de présenter, dans un temps record, une montre qui combine aussi parfaitement l'ADN des deux marques.

Cette montre haut de gamme est logée dans le même boîtier que les modèles exclusifs de tourbillons de Wyler Genève et propose un concept de boîtier antichoc qui consiste à protéger le mouvement dans un caisson étanche en titane, lui-même amorti entre la lunette et le dos du boîtier par un cadre en résine de fibre de carbone fixé sur quatre vis à ressort en titane.
Cela offre au mouvement une protection similaire à celle de suspensions automobiles. Le protège couronne, qui doit être ouvert de chaque côté de la couronne avant de pouvoir utiliser celle-ci pour régler l'heure, offre une protection supplémentaire contre les chocs.
En travaillant avec les tolérances micromécaniques propres à l'horlogerie, les designers de Zagato ont réussi à traduire la signature, reconnaissable entre toutes, des automobiles Zagato sur un cadran de montre qui n'est pas plus gros qu'une serrure de portière.
Le secret a consisté à utiliser un effet d'aluminium brossé qui divise le cadran en deux zones par la célèbre "double bulle", une forme que l'on peut voir sur le toit de nombreuses créations de Zagato. Le "Z" rouge distinctif en appliqué à 9 heures réaffirme la filiation de ce modèle.
Les marqueurs des heures appliqués et les lettres de la marque Wyler appliquées individuellement complètent la finition luxe du cadran, tandis qu'un examen attentif de l'indicateur de réserve de marche à 12 heures donnera un aperçu du coeur extraordinaire qui bat à l'intérieur.
La montre Wyler-Zagato est mue par un mouvement manufacture à remontage manuel qui possède une réserve de marche de 8 jours obtenue grâce à l'utilisation de deux ressorts à barillet fonctionnant en série.

Tirant son inspiration des tableaux de bord automobiles, l'indicateur de réserve de marche est bien visible avec les indications “E” (vide, de l’anglais « empty ») et “F" (pleine, de l‘anglais « full »).
Dans la continuation de la politique de Zagato de ne produire que des séries strictement limitées de ses automobiles, la montre Wyler-Zagato est également une édition limitée à 25 exemplaires seulement, chacune portant son propre numéro gravé à la fois au dos du boîtier et sur le mouvement lui-même.
Pour une lisibilité parfaite, l'heure est indiquée par les aiguilles évidées habituelles de Wyler Genève, avec inserts lumineux en SuperLuminova . Les lunettes avant et arrière sont en cristal saphir antirayure afin que la visibilité du cadran et du mouvement soit parfaite.
Le bracelet distinctif Wyler Genève en caoutchouc, qui porte le motif de profil de pneumatiques de la marque, et qui est équipé d'une boucle ardillon fixée à l'aide d'une barrette et d'une vis en titane, termine le thème automobile de la montre.

Just over six months after childhood friends Marcello Binda (President of Wyler Genève’s parent company, the Binda Group) and Andrea Zagato (President of the eponymous company) first announced the partnership between exclusive atelier and luxury watch brand, the two companies are proud to present in record time a timepiece that perfectly combines the DNA of both brands.

The high-end timepiece uses the same case, made of highly resistant titanium, as Wyler Genève’s exclusive tourbillon models and features a shock-absorbing case design in which the movement is housed in a water-resistant titanium container that is cushioned between the bezel and case back in a carbon-fibre resin frame that is fixed on four sprung titanium screws.
This gives the movement a form of shock protection that is similar to a car’s suspension. Additional shock protection is provided by the crown protector, which has to be opened on either side of the crown before the crown can be used to adjust the time.

Working within the micromechanical tolerances required in watchmaking, the designers at Zagato have succeeded in translating the unmistakable signature of Zagato cars on to a watch dial that is no bigger than a car’s door lock. The key to this is the use of a brushed aluminium look that is divided into two zones by the familiar “double bubble” shape seen on roof line of many of Zagato’s creations.
The applied “Z” trademark in red at 9 o’clock reaffirms the model’s pedigree and, together with the red-tipped seconds hand, adds a sporty touch to the watch. Applied hour markers and the individually applied letters of the Wyler name complete the luxury finish of the dial and a closer look at the power reserve indicator at 12 o’clock gives a clue to the unusual heart that beats inside.
The Wyler-Zagato watch is powered by a manual winding manufacture movement that has an 8-day power reserve, which is achieved by the use of two barrel springs operating in series. Taking its inspiration from a car’s dashboard, the power reserve display stands out with its “E” (empty) and “F” (full) markings.
Following Zagato’s philosophy of producing strictly limited editions of its automobile’s, the Wyler-Zagato watch is also a limited edition of only 25 pieces, each of which has its individual number engraved both on the case back and the movement itself. For perfect legibility, the time is displayed by the familiar hollowed-out Wyler Genève hands with luminous SuperLuminova inserts.
The front and back glass is made of scratch-resistant sapphire crystal to ensure a perfect view of the dial and movement.
The automotive theme of the watch is rounded off by the distinctive Wyler Genève rubber bracelet, which bears the brand’s signature tyre-tread pattern and is fitted with a standard buckle fixed with a titanium pin and screw.

LE TOURBILLON DE WYLER

En complément de son boîtier conçu pour résister, cette montre possède un dispositif supplémentaire d'absorption des chocs sur le pont du tourbillon, une spécificité Wyler Genève.
Le premier niveau du triple système de protection contre les chocs de Wyler Genève, réside dans la conception même du boîtier où les matériaux haut de gamme fusionnent en un chef d'œuvre de miniaturisation.
Le calibre tourbillon WT001 à remontage manuel Wyler Genève est logé dans un boîtier en titane, lui-même enchâssé dans un cadre de résine de fibre de carbone, légère, mais ultra résistante, qui forme la partie centrale du boîtier.

On utilise ensuite des vis en titane amorties par de minuscules ressorts, pour solidariser la lunette et le dos du boîtier avec le cadre de fibre de carbone. Le mouvement est ainsi suspendu dans la montre grâce à cette construction en sandwich.
Le deuxième niveau de protection est assuré par un protège couronne inédit dans le monde de l'horlogerie. Contrairement aux autres types de protection de couronne, le système breveté Wyler Genève est fixé sur le boîtier de chaque côté de la couronne et doit être tiré des deux côtés pour que l'utilisateur puisse actionner la couronne, offrant ainsi une protection totale à l'un des points les plus vulnérables de la montre.
Le troisième et dernier niveau de protection se trouve au cœur du mouvement du tourbillon Wyler Genève. Le tourbillon volant visible à travers une ouverture pratiquée dans le cadran à 6 heures est relié aux ponts en aluminium par deux ressorts antichocs pour offrir une protection supplémentaire contre les chocs.
La cage du tourbillon est visible à travers une ouverture pratiquée dans le cadran à 6 heures, au-dessus de laquelle sont placés deux compteurs importants qui reflètent la précision de la montre. En gardant l'aiguille du trust index au centre de la graduation quand il remonte sa montre, l'utilisateur peut ainsi obtenir une précision optimale sans risquer de trop remonter la montre. Un sous-cadran 24 heures GMT doté d'une seule aiguille des heures, à 12 heures, crée une élégante symétrie avec la cage du tourbillon.

Le Tourbillon Wyler Genève est disponible en titane, or rose 18 carats ou platine, avec un bracelet en caoutchouc naturel spécifique frappé du logo de Wyler.

The robust case design is complemented by an extra form of shock absorption on the tourbillon bridges that is unique to Wyler Genève.
The first element in the Wyler Genève Tourbillon’s triple shock protection system is the contemporary case design, which fuses together high-end materials in a masterpiece of miniature engineering. The hand-wound Wyler Genève tourbillon calibre WT001 is housed in a titanium case, which is in turn framed in a lightweight but ultra-strong carbon fibre resin construction that acts as the case middle.
Titanium screws cushioned by tiny springs are then used to fix the bezel and case-back to the carbon fibre frame in a sandwich-type design that leaves the movement suspended within the watch.
The second level of protection is provided by a crown lock that is unique in the world of watchmaking. Unlike most other forms of crown protection, the patented Wyler Genève design is fixed to the case on either side of the crown and must be pulled out on both sides before the crown can be operated, thus offering failsafe protection for one of the watch’s most vulnerable points.
The third and final level of protection is found at the heart of the Wyler Genève tourbillon movement. The flying tourbillon visible through an aperture on the dial at 6 o’clock is attached to aluminium bridges on two shockabsorbing springs to offer additional shock protection. This design, which is exclusive to Wyler Genève, leaves the tourbillon itself suspended within the already suspended movement as it rotates on its own axis, performing one full revolution every 60 seconds to compensate for the effects of gravity on the mechanism.

The tourbillon cage is visible through an aperture on the dial at 6 o’clock, above which are two important meters that reflect the watch’s accuracy.
The power reserve indicator at 9 o’clock indicates the movement’s charge relative to the 120 hours of operation available when it is fully wound. The trust index opposite at 3 o’clock indicates the amplitude of the balance wheel. When the watch is fully wound, the amplitude of the balance wheel is generally a little higher than the optimum level, before it stabilises and then drops drastically as the power reserve reaches zero.
By keeping the trust index hand in the middle of the scale when winding the watch, the wearer can therefore ensure optimum accuracy without over-winding the watch.
A 24-hour GMT sub-dial with a single hour hand in the 12 o’clock position creates an elegant symmetry with the tourbillon cage.

The Wyler Genève Tourbillon is available in titanium, 18-carat red gold or platinum with a natural rubber strap personalised with the signature Wyler pattern.

 

TRIPLE PROTECTION cronograph

The Wyler Genève watch company presents a chronograph for Baselworld 2007 that pays tribute – both inside and out – to the pioneering genius of the watchmaker Paul Wyler, who founded the company in 1896.
The Wyler Genève Chronograph features a triple protection system consisting of Wyler’s most significant invention, the Incaflex balance wheel, coupled with a contemporary antishock case and a form of crown protection that is unique in the world of watchmaking.

The watch movement itself is ensconced in a titanium case, which is in turn framed in a lightweight but ultra-strong carbon fibre construction.
The individual components of the watch case are then screwed to this central framework, which is cushioned by tiny springs and functions just like a car’s suspension.

Inspired by such automotive parallels, the Wyler Genève Chronograph’s design also takes its cues from the world of the motor car. The crown, for example, comes in the same metal as the case but is covered in grooved rubber to resemble a car tyre. The rubber also offers improved grip compared with a standard metal crown.
The chronograph pushers in the form of a car’s foot pedals continue the automobile theme and the rubber strap with its personalised Wyler motif also recalls the tread of a tyre. With no concessions allowed in terms of robustness, titanium screws are used to secure the fastening buckle to the strap, which is integrated directly into the watch case and secured by screws fed through the case back.
Further protection is offered by the second element in the triple protection system: a unique crown lock bearing the Wyler logo that is attached to the case on either side of the crown and must be pulled out on both sides before any adjustments can be made.
Excellent timekeeping is ensured by a proven Swiss self-winding chronograph calibre, which has a 42-hour power reserve and is fitted with the original Wyler Incaflex balance wheel, the third element in the triple protection system. Considered revolutionary at the time of its invention in 1927, Wyler’s Incaflex balance wheel incorporates two flexible curved arms across its diameter that absorb any shocks to the wheel.

La couronne, par exemple, est du même métal que le boîtier, mais a été recouverte de caoutchouc cranté rappelant un pneu de voiture. Le caoutchouc offre également une meilleure préhension que les couronnes métalliques habituelles.
Les poussoirs du chrono, en forme de pédales de voitures, prolongent le thème automobile et le bracelet en caoutchouc, au motif personnalisé Wyler, rappelle également le profil d'un pneu.
Sans compromis en termes de solidité, des vis en titane ont été utilisées pour fixer la boucle au bracelet, lui-même inséré directement dans le boîtier et tenu par des vis traversant le dos du boîtier.
Le deuxième élément du système de triple protection offre encore plus de protection: un protège-couronne inédit arborant le logo Wyler et qui est fixé de par et d'autre de la couronne et doit être tiré de chaque côté avant tout réglage.

On doit l'excellence de cette montre à un calibre de chronographe éprouvé avec remontage automatique, disposant d'une réserve de marche de 42 heures et équipé du balancier Incaflex Wyler original, le troisième élément du système de triple protection.
Jugé révolutionnaire au moment de son invention en 1927, le balancier Incaflex de Wyler intègre deux bras flexibles courbes qui relient l'extérieur au centre et absorbent ainsi les chocs subis par la roue.
